On August 10, 2021, the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) Graduate School’s Security Governance and Diplomacy Cluster (SGDC) conducted the 8th Brown Bag Lecture for its Master in Public Management Major in Development and Security program. It was attended by the student-officers from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and allied countries such as the United States, Thailand, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

Nicolas Michelon, Editor of Asia Power Watch and Founder and CEO of Asia Intelligence Advisory, was invited to speak on the topic “Economic Security: The Future of World Economy”. His discussion focused on economic security through plurilateralism, soft power strategies of the hegemonic China and the US, and the quest for balance of power in the globe. He also stressed that middle power countries could play a significant role in introducing new business strategies and new economic structures in the regions. He encouraged Asian countries to remain optimistic and continuously strive for economic resilience, political readiness, and social peace amid crisis situations.

Dr. Chester B. Cabalza, Faculty-in-Charge (FIC) of the National and International Security module, facilitated the open forum that followed the lecture.
